2004 National Tasting Project
Merlot
The varietal for the 2004 American Wine Society National Tasting Project is Merlot Wines and Detroit’s opinion will be included with the national tally. We will use the standard AWS rating scale to submit our scores. The idea is to evaluate 3 wines from the following two different price ranges, plus a “Wild Card” Merlot from anywhere in world in either price range.
Wines included in the $7 - $15 range:
- Bogle, Cellar #8, Smoking Loon, Trinchero, Talus
Wines included in the $15 - $25 range (we will choose 4 from list, unless we find that “Wild Card”):
- St. Francis, Chateau St. Jean, Sterling Napa, Wild Horse, Franciscan
Walnuts, Cheese and Bread will accompany the wines. Coffee and Dessert will follow the tasting. Please bring your own glasses & pens. No smoking or strong fragrances. Attendees recognize they will consume alcohol and assume responsibility of having done so.
Attendance will be limited to the first 32. Reservation deadline is Tuesday, October 12, 2004.
Directions to Club House: 14 Mile Rd, ½ mile west of Orchard Lake Rd, turn right on first street past the 45 mph sign.
